You can choose "Inventory Asset Management (IAM)" as the inventory mode when enabling the Inventory Management functionality on Cloud. Once enabled, first set up the initial inventory of asset-tracked items, then add more products as asset-tracked to the inventory.
Set up initial inventory of asset-tracked items
In the IAM mode, set the initial inventory of asset-tracked items as follows:
1/ Mark the relevant product in your catalog as an "inventory-tracked item," select "Unit tracking" as the inventory mode, and click "Proceed."
2/ Skip the step to enter the inital on-hand quantity of the item by clicking "Cancel" on the modal.
Now, the product is asset-tracked with a 0 (zero) on-hand quantity.
3/ Set the iniital on-hand quantity across the inventory locations by importing the location details, and counts by location as specified by the instructions in this article.
The products marked as asset-tracked appear on the Inventory page with a "Units Tracked" label next to them.
Extend the inventory of asset-tracked items
If you chose "Inventory Pools" as the inventory mode when enabling Inventory Management, and then switched to the IAM mode, do the following to extend the inventory of asset-tracked items.
#1 Mark more products in the catalog as "inventory-tracked" and select "Unit tracking" as the mode
You can add new asset-tracked items.
#2 Switch the mode of pool-tracked items to IAM
You can switch the mode of items that come with serial numbers to IAM to enable asset-level tracking. For example, TVs, speakers, laptops, and routers.
