After you create an opportunity and a new quote, you can add items to build the quote. Items refer to products, labor types, packages, and alternate sets.
The starting point to add an item is always the Add Items box in the Quote Details view.
Search for the item
There are two ways to search for items.
Keyword search
Type the first characters of the item's name, brand, or category in the Add Items box to see a list of matching items.
D-Tools AI search
The D-Tools AI Search functionality allows you to use natural, conversational language, both in text and voice, to search for products in the catalog.
With text-based AI search, type a natural-language search query in the Add Items box, or enter an initial query and then iterate to refine the results.
With voice-based AI search, click the "Microphone" icon in the Add Items box, speak your search query into your computer's built-in or connected microphone, and the AI interprets it and displays it in the Add Items box.
Check out this article for more details.
Irrespective of which method you use to search, the items or products will be seen under three tabs:
Favorites: If the items you have marked as Favorites in the catalog match the search criterion
Catalog: If the items in your catalog match the search criterion
D-Tools Library: If the items in the D-Tools Library match the search criterion
If you don't enter any text in the Add Items box, you will see items under the Favorites and Recommendations tab. The items under the Recommendations tab are the most commonly used in other quotes, and Cloud updates them periodically.
If an item is marked as inventory-tracked for Inventory Management, it will display a "Warehouse" icon next to it. Hover over the icon to see the item's inventory status.
Add the item
Once you find the item, you have 4 options to add it to the quote: Quick add, Multi-Location add, Advanced add, and Drop add.
The Quick add, Multi-Location add, and Advanced add options allow you to add items in the Quoting view.
The Drop add option allows you to add items in the Drawings view.
You need the "Add products from D-Tools Library" permission in the "Catalog" permissions group, or you should be a member of a group that has it, to add products from D-Tools Library.

"Drop add" lets you add items to drawings when using the Drawings functionality.
With Drop add, after searching for the item, you can point the cursor to the appropriate location on the floor plan or site image and drop the product once or multiple times, depending on the required quantity.
This will create a visual representation of where products will be installed at the work site.
Check out this article for more details about Drop add.
Although this isn't a conventional way to add items, if you have a quote in another opportunity with all or most of the items you need in this quote, you can copy the quote from that opportunity.
