The conventional way to build visual quotes is by using the floor plan of the work site. However, if you do not have a floor plan handy and still want to show the design visually to the customer, you can use the "Rectangle Location" feature on Cloud to draw locations that closely resemble the site layout.
*It is important to note that locations may not be dimensionally as accurate as the floor plan. So, you will not be able to use the "Wirepath" feature. While you can enable "Product Coverage" to show the coverage area of the products placed in the locations, the coverage length may not be accurate because the locations are not dimensionally accurate. Barring Wirepath and Coverage, the Visual Quoting experience with locations is the same as that with the floor plan.
Adding locations
You have the option to add the following types of locations—Rectangle location, and Polygon location.
There are two ways to add locations.
1 - From the Locations Group view
This is the approach when you want to extend the quote from the List view with some or all locations and products confirmed for the project.
Go to the "Visual" tab in the project and open the Group View panel on the left. Under "Locations" you will see all locations for the site.
Hover over a location in the panel and you will see a dotted square with a plus sign. Click the square, move the cursor on the canvas, and draw the location. You will see that the location will automatically use the name of the location.
Add locations, either attached to each other or detached from each other as needed. There is no functional impact on whether the locations are attached or detached.
2 - From the toolbar
This is the approach when you start building the quote by first creating the locations and then adding the items from the Search bar.
On the toolbar, click the "Locations" icon, click a spot on the canvas, and add the location. In the modal, link it to a location in the project and click "Save."
In the following example, we added one location from the Group view and another from the toolbar.
