When someone signs up for a D-Tools Cloud trial, they're automatically assigned as the owner of the subscription, but that person isn't always the right long-term owner. This article walks you through how to transfer ownership to the correct person before or after purchasing a paid subscription.

Who should be the Owner?

The Owner role is typically assigned to the business owner or someone who will manage the subscription, billing, and user permissions long-term.

There are two ways to update the Account Owner, both found within Settings in your D-Tools Cloud account. Use whichever option works best for you.

Note: The new owner must already exist as a user in your D-Tools Cloud account. If they haven't been added yet, invite them first under Users & Permissions before completing this process.

Option 1: Change the Owner from Users & Permissions

  1. Go to Settings > Account > Users & Permissions in the left navigation menu

  2. Find the user you'd like to make the new owner and click the ellipsis next to their name

  3. Select "Set as owner", then click "Change" to confirm

Option 2: Change the Owner from Company Profile

  1. Go to Settings > Account > Company Profile

  2. Select the new owner from the "Account Owner" dropdown

  3. Update the email address and phone number fields with the new owner's contact details
