Once you have mapped the locations drawn on the canvas with the relevant locations and sublocations in the Design view, you can add items to the locations and start building the plan view.
You can build a plan view:
From scratch, by adding items directly to the locations.
By extending a quote that already has items in the Design view to a plan view drawing by drawing locations on the canvas from the Group view.
By extending a quote that already has items in the Design view to a plan view drawing by adding the items from the Design view to the locations.
There are 2 ways in which you can add items:
#1 From the Search bar
Here, you are building the plan view drawing from scratch. So, you need to add items by searching for them in the Search bar at the top.
This experience is similar to building a quote in the Design view, except you add items directly to the relevant locations on the canvas. You can see the items under the relevant location in the Locations group view.
When adding an item, make sure it's in the correct location on the canvas. If you add it to the canvas but not within any location, it appears under "Unassigned" in the Locations group view.
After you add the required quantity of an item, click "Done" in the Search bar, then add the next item.

#2 By adding locations from the Group view
Here, you already have items in the Design view and are extending the quote to a plan view drawing by adding the locations from the Group view on the left.
To add locations from the Group view:
1/ Click the rectangle next to the relevant location in the "Locations" group view.
2/ Draw the location on the canvas. Cloud automatically shows the location name on the location drawn on the canvas and adds all items, except non-placeable items (wires, cables, wall plates, rack accessories, etc.) and items without I/Os, to the location.
#3 From the Group view
Here, you already have items in the Design view and are extending the quote to a plan view drawing by adding the items from the Group view on the left.
To add items from the Group view:
1/ Click anywhere in the location on the canvas. Cloud shows the items in that location in the left panel.
2/ Click the item in the left panel, then select "Enable click to add" to add the items in the location.
For every location, Cloud shows the number of items added to the location on the canvas and those not yet added.
In this example, 2 of the 3 items were added to the "Backyard." Notice that the side panel reads "1 out of 3 items not in the drawing."
To add more items not in the Design view, use the Search bar to find them and add them to the relevant location on the canvas. You can see these under the relevant location in the Locations group view.
Once you add the items, you can add text, shapes, and comments to the canvas.
