Customers will expect the products in the proposal to be grouped and displayed in a logical order according to the locations or the systems to which they belong. This logical grouping of products has to be done at the quote level.

Types of group views

When quoting on Cloud, you have the option to group products in four views: Locations, Systems, Phases, and Categories.

When adding products to a quote, they will come with the system, phase, and category assigned to them in the catalog. You will need to fit them into the appropriate location in the Locations view from the item's side panel or drag and drop them into the appropriate location in the "View By" menu shown in the screenshot.

Refer to the following table to understand what each view represents and where to add the defaults.

Description

Where to add

Locations

A Location is the physical area where the product is installed at the work site.

Settings > Quote > Default Locations

Systems

A System can be defined as a group of products integrated to achieve a common objective.

"System" can span multiple products, even product categories listed in the catalog.

For example, Products in the "A/V Sources" and "Display Devices" fall under the "A/V System."

Settings > Catalog > Systems

Phases

A Phase is a stage of the project in which the product will be installed at the work site.

Settings > Catalog > Phases

Categories

A Category is a group of products that share similar characteristics.

Created automatically when products are imported or synchronized to the catalog from the D-Tools Cloud Library.

Customizing a group view

While you cannot hide or delete a group view from the quote, you can customize it by adding or deleting locations, systems, and phases in the respective views.

Check out this article about customizing locations and sublocations for more details.

Customizing the systems and phases views is similar to customizing the Locations view.

Note that the Categories view cannot be customized in the quote.
