Once you have created an opportunity and a new quote, you will need to add items to build the quote. Items refer to products, labor types, packages, and alternate sets.
On Cloud, you add items to the quote in 4 different ways: Quick add, Multi-Location add, Advanced add, and Drop add.
Quick add, Multi-Location add, and Advanced add are relevant to adding items in the List view.
Drop Add is used to add items when building visual quotes.
Search for the item
The starting point to add an item is always the Item Search box in the Quote Details view. Type in the first characters of the item's name, brand, or category, and you will see a list of items that match your search string.
The items will be seen under three tabs:
Favorites - if you have marked some items as Favorites in the catalog.
Catalog - items in your catalog that match the search criterion.
D-Tools Library - items in the D-Tools Library that match the search criterion.
If you don't enter any text in the Search box, you will see items under the Favorites and Recommendations tab. The items under the Recommendations tab are most used in other quotes, and Cloud updates this periodically.
If the item is marked as an inventory-tracked item for Inventory Management, it will display a "Warehouse" icon next to it. You can hover over the icon to see the inventory status of the item.
Once you have the filtered list of items, you can use any of the following ways to add items one by one.
#1 Quick add
You can use "Quick Add" to add an item to just one location, system, or phase. This is when you are familiar with the item and don't need to review its pricing, specifications, labor, or other details.
Once you are in the correct location, system, or phase and have searched for the item, click "Quick add" in the item row. The item will be added to the relevant location, system, or phase.
To add an item to all locations at once using "Quick Add," select "All Items" in the View By panel on the left, search for the item, then click "Quick Add."
#2 Multi-Location add
"Multi-Location add" allows you to add an item to multiple locations in different quantities, if needed. If the system is not specified in the catalog, you can specify it when adding the item. You can also click the item name to view its details.
Once you are sure that you are in the correct location, system, or phase and have searched for the item, click the item row, and you will see a panel to do the following:
Select the locations
Specify the quantities
Select the system
Once you have finished the above steps, you can click "Add to quote. " The item will be added to the relevant locations and displayed under the system you selected.
In this example, we checked the item details, set the locations, quantities, and system, and added the item to the quote.
#3 Advanced add
"Advanced add" is a comprehensive item addition feature that allows you to add multiple items to the quote in one view. When using Advanced add, you can:
See the catalog view of your items and explore products across categories and brands.
Go to the D-Tools Library and add products if they are not in your catalog.
Add items one by one to multiple locations and in the quantities required.
To use Advanced add, click in the Search bar, and then click "Go to advanced add" in the lower-right corner. This will show a modal with the options to add, search, filter, and sort items.
To add an item to the quote, click the item row, and you will see a panel to do the following:
Select the locations
Specify the quantities
Select the system
Once you have completed the above steps, click "Add." The item will be added to the relevant locations and displayed under the system you selected.
In this example, we added two items to the quote using Advanced add.
#4 Drop add
"Drop add" is a way of adding items to visual quotes when using the Visual Quoting functionality on Cloud.
With Drop add, after searching for the item, you can point the cursor to the appropriate location on the floor plan or site image and drop the product once or multiple times, depending on the required quantity.
This will create a visual representation of where products will be installed at the work site.

Although not a conventional way to add items, if you have a quote in another opportunity that has all or most of the items you need in this quote, you can copy the quote from that opportunity.
