How to provide alternates for a product currently at the customer site and let them decide on whether they want to upgrade it

You may want to suggest that a customer upgrade their current equipment if it is outdated or nearing end-of-life. For example, you could note the model number of the TV they currently have and suggest newer models.

On Cloud, you can achieve this by using the "Client-Supplied" and "Alternate Items" features in tandem.

Do the following:

  1. Add the product that the customer is currently using and mark it as client supplied from its side panel.

  2. In the side panel, go to the Alternate Items section and add some newer product models for the customer to choose from.

  3. Send the proposal to the customer. They will see the Client Supplied label next to the product they are using and the "View alternates" link to choose a newer model. The customer will also see how much the new product will cost them.
