Creating a brand price rule for a brand

How to set cost and price for the products of a brand using a brand price rule

Written by Kimberly Craven

On Cloud, a "Brand Price" rule allows you to set the cost and price for products of a specific brand using their Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). For example, the cost of Samsung products is 60% of the MSRP, and their price is 90% of the MSRP.

Setting brand price rules is helpful because you don't have to manually set the costs and prices of the products. When the MSRP of the products changes, Cloud receives the new MSRP from the suppliers set for the brand and automatically changes the cost and price.

Without the brand price rule, you will need to manually set the cost and price for each product in the catalog.

Here are some things you need to know about brand price rules:

  • The cost and price are set as a factor of MSRP.

  • The rule is set at the brand level, and it applies only to the products of that brand.

  • The rule propagates the cost and price information when the products of the relevant brand are added to quotes.

  • The rule is automatically applied to the new products of the relevant brand when you add them to the Cloud catalog from the D-Tools Library.

  • You can change the cost and price in the catalog or the quote.

To create a brand price rule for a brand:

1/ Go to "Settings > Catalog > Brands" in the left navigation menu.

2/ Click the 3-dot menu of the brand for which you want to create the rule.

3/ In the "Price Rule" tile in the modal, do the following:

a/ Turn on the price rule setting.

b/ Set the cost and price as a factor of MSRP, cost, and price.

c/ Click "Save."

This will apply the rule to the products of the brand you add to the catalog in the future.

d/ To apply this rule to the products of the brand currently in the catalog, click the "Apply to all products now" button. At the top of the tile, you will see the number of products of this brand to which this rule will be applied.

In this example, we used MSRP to set the cost and price and applied the rule to all existing products in the catalog.

5/ Repeat steps 1 to 4 for all brands that require the supplier rule.

You can also apply a brand price rule to a brand from the catalog. Click the 3-dot menu of the product and click "Create brand price rule." You will see the same modal as above for setting the cost and price and applying the price rule to new and existing products.
