What happens after you click Build quote
Quote Assist works in two stages. First it reads your sources and works out the plan for the job. Then it takes that plan and finds a real product for every line, writing them onto the quote as it goes.
You do not have to sit and watch. A progress card on the Items page tracks the whole thing, and items appear underneath as they are added.
The stages you will see
The card names the stage it is on:
Quote Assist queued. Waiting for a slot. This starts in a moment.
Reading your sources. Working through the files, drawings, and notes you checked.
Writing your quote plan. Working out the rooms, the systems, and what each one needs.
Saving your quote plan.
Preparing to add items.
Reading your plan, then building your items. Products are matched and written onto the quote. Once this stage starts, the card shows how many items are done out of the total.
The reading and planning stages are usually the longest part of the wait. A large set of sources takes longer than a short one.
You can leave the page
The run keeps going whether or not you are looking at it. You can move to another quote, another opportunity, or close the tab entirely, and it carries on.
Come back to the Items page and Quote Assist picks the progress card back up where it left off.
The chat panel stays available the whole time the run is going. If you already know something your sources did not cover, you can ask for it without waiting for the run to finish.
Stopping a run
Click Cancel on the progress card to stop a run in progress.
Cancelling stops the work. It does not undo it. Anything already written onto the quote stays there, and the card tells you how many items that was, for example "The 12 items already added remain in your quote." If you cancel before anything was added, the quote is untouched.
There is no resume. If you cancel and then want the rest, start Quote Assist again and it runs fresh from the sources you pick.
When the quote is finished
The card switches to a summary of what happened, then clears itself after a few moments. The summary counts what was added and what is waiting on you.
Anything Quote Assist could not settle on its own stays on the page as a flagged row in the room it belongs to. Working through those is covered in Quote Assist: Reviewing the items it added.
If a run fails
A failed run says so on the card, along with the reason where there is a specific one to give.
Nothing is lost. Whatever was written before the failure stays on the quote, and the sources you picked are untouched. Start Quote Assist again from the Items page, and if it fails a second time on the same sources, try trimming the selection down to the essential documents before you contact support.
Running Quote Assist more than once
You can run it again on a quote that already has items on it. It reads the quote as it stands, so it will not blindly duplicate what is already there. Where it believes a planned item should take the place of a line already on the quote, it flags that as a replacement for you to accept or refuse rather than making the swap itself.
