Choosing what Quote Assist reads
Quote Assist only reads what you check. Nothing on the opportunity is used unless you tick it, and nothing you tick is used for anything other than building this quote.
The Select Sources screen lists everything available, where each source lives, and how much of Quote Assist's reading capacity it will use.
What you can pick

A row marked Not usable cannot be read. That is usually a link rather than an uploaded file, or a file that had nothing readable in it. A Drawings row marked None created means this quote has no drawings yet.
Metadata alone is thin. A survey, a spec, or a scope document is what turns a generic quote into the right one, so check at least one real document when you have one.
Capacity, and the Process button
Quote Assist can only read so much at once, so each source shows its share of capacity and the bar at the top shows the total for everything you have checked. Only checked sources count.
Sizes are measured from the files themselves, never estimated, which is why a file that has not been read yet shows a Process button instead of a percentage. Click it and Quote Assist reads that file and fills in its real share. For Word and Excel files, processing is also what makes the contents readable in the first place.
A few things you may see:
A dash instead of a percentage. Measuring is still running. It finishes on its own.
This selection is past what Quote Assist can read in one pass. Uncheck something. The largest documents are usually the culprit, and the percentages tell you which.
A checked file has not been processed. Either process it or uncheck it. Quote Assist will not build with a checked file whose size is unknown.
Source sizes could not be measured. You can still continue. Anything that does not fit gets trimmed automatically, so you may want to keep the selection small.
Adding a file you have not uploaded yet
If the document you need is sitting on your desktop, use Add file to this quote at the top of the source list to upload it without leaving the screen. It is added to the list already checked and processed for you.
If you started from New Quote and the quote does not exist yet, the link reads Add file to this opportunity instead, and the file is attached to the opportunity. It is read exactly the same way.
Notes
The Notes box is for what your documents do not say. It applies to this one generation and is not saved to the quote.
Use it for the decisions that came out of the conversation rather than the paperwork:
"The client asked to hold the theater for phase two, so quote the main floor only."
"Ignore the pricing in the spec, we are quoting our own equivalents."
"Two of the three huddle rooms are identical, the third has no video."
Notes on their own are enough to build from. If you have no files yet, you can describe the job in the Notes box and Quote Assist will work from that.
When Build quote stays greyed out
Build quote waits until the selection is sound. It stays disabled while:
Nothing is checked and the Notes box is empty
Sizes are still being measured, or a file is still processing
The selection is over capacity
A checked file has not been processed yet
