When an answer is more than a sentence or two, Ask D-Tools does not cram it into the chat. It builds it on the canvas, a panel that opens beside the conversation. The chat gives you the takeaway. The canvas holds the detail.
What lands on the canvas
Anything with structure:
Record lists and queues, such as overdue payment requests or projects at risk
Rankings and top-10 style answers
Comparisons and breakdowns
Charts and trends
Multi-section briefings on a single deal, project, or customer
Any table with more than three columns always goes to the canvas, because wide tables are unreadable in the narrow chat panel.
Short factual answers stay in the chat. If you ask "what were closed sales last quarter", you get the number in the conversation, not a canvas.
Reading a canvas table
Table results come with more than rows. Ask D-Tools also reports:
Why the top rows ranked first, in the chat summary
The filters and period actually applied
Whether any filter had to be relaxed to return results, rather than reporting a false zero
What is missing, if part of the answer needed data you cannot see or that D-Tools does not store
Records include their ID or number so you can click through to the real record in D-Tools Cloud.
Exporting to CSV
Data tables include an Export CSV button above the table, with a count of the rows included. Click it to download the result exactly as shown, filters and sort included.
This is the fastest path from a question to a working spreadsheet. Ask the question, refine it until the table is right, then export once.
Charts
Ask for a trend, a breakdown, a comparison, or a leaderboard and Ask D-Tools builds a chart instead of a table. Bar, line, stacked bar, and heatmap are all available.
Show pipeline value by owner
Show quoted product revenue by category by month
Show open billing balance by status
When a chart could be read more than one way, the chat tells you the basis it used, for example which date field drives a monthly trend. If that is not the basis you wanted, say so and it rebuilds.
If a question is really an action list rather than a picture, Ask D-Tools gives you the table instead. A queue you have to work through is more useful than a chart of it.
The canvas replaces, it does not stack
Each new answer replaces what is on the canvas. That is deliberate: refining is the main way you work here.

Break that out by project manager
Each one rebuilds the canvas in place. If you want to keep a result, export it before you refine.

When Ask D-Tools builds an artifact while you are working on another page, a compact preview appears so you can see the result without leaving what you were doing. Close it to dismiss, or open the drawer for the full canvas.
