Yes, there is a setting that shows the state abbreviation instead of the full name for address suggestions when adding accounts, opportunities, and in other parts of Cloud. 

To enable the setting, go to "Settings &gt; CRM" in the left navigation menu and set "Use State Abbreviation Instead of Name" to ON.
