In the Inventory Asset Management (IAM) mode, you can reserve the required quantity of inventory-tracked items for the project by selecting assets of specific serial numbers, IP addresses, MAC addresses, and QR codes. If you have pool-tracked items in the project, you can reserve the required quantities.

You can reserve inventory-tracked items in two ways:

#1 Within the project

1/ Go to the Project Details view.

2/ Go to "Details > Item Status" in the details view, in the Ordering or Scheduling view.

If you want to filter items to only inventory-tracked items, you can use the Inventory Items filter.

3/ Select the inventory-tracked items in the project and click "Order" or "Schedule" in the top-right corner, and click "Manage inventory assets."

4/ You can use the Search box and the location and received date filters at the top to limit the assets that you want to reserve for the project.

5/ You will see different options to reserve pool-tracked items and asset-tracked items.

Pool-tracked

For pool-tracked items, you can click "Reserve by quantity" and reserve the item.

Asset-tracked

For asset-tracked items, you have the option to select specific items.

  • Click the down-arrow to the right of the item or click "Show Asset List" to see all items available for selection.

  • Select the number of items you want to reserve and click "Reserve items" at the top-right corner.

The following screenshot shows how a pool-tracked item has been reserved, as well as the options to select and reserve an asset-tracked item.

6/ After you reserve the items, if you want to look at items that have been reserved, set "Show Reserved Only" to Yes.

  • Once pool-tracked items are reserved, the reserved count will decrement from the Available quantity.

  • Once asset-tracked items are reserved for a project, the reserved count will decrement from the Available quantity, and their product-specific page under Inventory will show the asset as Allocated, along with the project or service call it is allocated to.

#2 Using the handheld scanner

You can use a handheld scanner to scan the item's serial number or QR label or enter specific asset attributes, such as serial number, IP address, or asset ID, to reserve the required quantity of inventory-tracked items for a project.

After you find the asset you want to allocate, you will see the options to choose the project and the location at the work site to which you want to allocate the asset. You can use the same workflow to allocate all inventory-tracked items for the project.

Check out this article for more details.

Currently, you cannot allocate pool-tracked assets for projects using the handheld scanner.
