Written by Ashok P

Cloud has two modes of Inventory Management: Basic Inventory and Advanced Inventory. Basic Inventory includes entry-level features (pooled product counts only), and Advanced Inventory includes all inventory-related features (individual units/assets).

If you want a comparison between the features available with Basic Inventory and Advanced Inventory, check out this article.

This article is relevant to Cloud customers who used the Inventory Management functionality prior to Cloud release 98, and to those looking to enable the Advanced Inventory functionality introduced in Cloud release 98.

Currently, Advanced Inventory is available only to select customers who want to try it out. Advanced Inventory will be made available to all customers in Cloud release 99 or later.

If you want to try out Advanced Inventory, contact the D-Tools Cloud Support team over chat or email.

Existing Inventory Management user

If you are an existing Inventory Management user (as of Cloud release 98), you have already enabled Basic Inventory. You will need to enable the Advanced mode for Inventory Management to enable Advanced Inventory.

Before upgrading, we highly recommend reading this article to understand the impact of upgrading to Advanced Inventory.

To enable the Advanced mode for Inventory Management:

1/ Go to "Settings > Inventory > Inventory Settings" in the left navigation menu.

2/ Click "Upgrade to Advanced" under Inventory Settings.

3/ Read the text in the Upgrade to Advanced Inventory modal and click "Next."

4/ Click "Upgrade Now" in the Confirm Upgrade modal.

New Inventory Management user

If you have not been using the Inventory Management functionality (as of Cloud release 98), you can choose between Basic Inventory and Advanced Inventory when enabling it.

To enable Advanced Inventory:

1/ Go to "Settings > Inventory > Inventory Settings" in the left navigation menu.

2/ Click "Enable Inventory Management and let’s get started."

3/ In the Choose Your Inventory Mode modal, click "Advanced Inventory."

4/ In the Enable Advanced Inventory modal, click "Enable Advanced Inventory."

You will see the settings relevant to Inventory Management, along with options to add inventory locations on the Inventory Settings page.
