If you have enabled Advanced Inventory, you can use the Handheld Scanner integration integrated into the Inventory Management functionality. This integration lets you use:
Use a USB-connected, UPC, serial number, or QR label scanner to scan the relevant details of the inventory-tracked items
Use your computer or mobile device's onboard camera to scan UPC, serial number, or QR labels of the inventory tracked items
Use a UPC, serial number, or QR label scanning app installed on your computer or mobile device to scan the relevant details of the inventory-tracked items using the camera on your computer or mobile device
Search for individual assets by their asset ID, serial number, IP address, and MAC address
To access the scanner, click "Scan" at the top of the inventory-tracked items table.
This will open the Scan modal to use the scanning functionality.
Here, you can perform both item management and asset management tasks.
Item management: For items, you either scan their UPC or search for them by name or UPC
Asset management: For assets, you either scan their QR label or serial number, or search for them by their asset ID, serial number, IP address, or MAC address
All the screenshots and demonstrations in this article use the search-and-identify method.
#1 Identify an item and check in
If you bring the UPC of an item into view of the camera shown in the upper half of the Scan modal, you can identify the item and check it into one or more inventory locations. You can also search for the item by its name or UPC and check it into one or more inventory locations.
In the following screenshot, clicking "Select" for the item at the top will take you to the options to specify the quantity, inventory location, and enter the serial numbers for the received quantity of the item.
#2 Identify an asset and move or allocate
If you bring the QR label or serial number of an asset into view of the camera shown in the upper half of the Scan modal, you can identify the asset, view its details, move it to another inventory location, or allocate it to a project. You can also search for the asset by asset ID, serial number, IP address, or MAC address.
You will see the options to Batch Move and Batch Allocate assets, which allow you to scan or search for multiple assets, one by one, and move them to another inventory location or allocate them in projects.
#3 Batch Move
You can use the "Batch Move" option to first select an inventory location as the destination, then scan or search for assets, and move them into that location.
#4 Batch Allocate
You can use the "Batch Allocate" option to identify assets by scanning or searching for them, then allocating them to projects and to the specific locations within those projects where they are required.
You identify an asset, allocate it to the project, identify more assets under the item if multiple assets are required in the project, identify another asset, allocate it to the project, and you can continue this process until you have allocated assets to all projects.
#5 Batch Receive
You can use the "Batch Receive" option to identify items by scanning or searching by UPC, then move them to a specific inventory location.
Once an item is identified and checked into the inventory location, you can identify another and check it in, and complete the check-in of all received items.
If you are receiving an item from a Cloud PO, you can select the PO in the modal, and Cloud will mark the PO as "Received" once you complete the Batch Receive task.
