The following are some of the questions that our customers frequently ask us about the Interconnects functionality.

Q: How do I enable the Interconnects functionality?

A: You don't need to enable the Interconnects functionality. It is enabled by default. All industry-standard I/Os are available by default under "Settings > Drawings > Custom I/O Library."

Q: What do I need to start using the Interconnects functionality?

A: You need a quote with a few products in it to start using the Interconnects functionality. Once in the quote, go to the "Visual" tab. Here, click the "Layout" tab in the top-right corner, and click "Connection."

You will see the products on the canvas. Start by connecting two devices and configuring the connection between them. Connect all devices that need to be interconnected.

Check out this QuickStart guide for more details about how to use the functionality.

Q: Is there any automation for configuring connections between devices?

A: Yes, you can use the "Match I/O" feature to connect the I/Os of the devices. Cloud will match the I/Os with similar signals with opposite directions.

We will be adding more automation in future releases.

Q: Can I connect multiple items at one go?

A: No, this functionality will be made available in future releases.

Q: Is there built-in intelligence available to automatically connect similar I/Os and items?

A: No, not yet. This functionality is under research, and we are working to make it available in future releases.

Q: Where do I add the I/Os of the products?

A: You can add I/Os in the catalog, in the product details view, or in the Connection view when you connect the devices.

You have the option to add I/Os manually or upload a CSV file with the I/Os.

Check out this article for more details.

Q: How do I identify individual connections in a connection diagram?

A: Cloud provides a setting to configure the connection ID format. This setting is available under "Settings > Drawings > Connection ID."

Check out this article for more details.

Q: How do I differentiate between different types of signals in a connection diagram?

A: Cloud provides the ability to assign a unique color to a signal type. With the signal type associated with an I/O, the connection between I/Os using a specific signal type is displayed in the color assigned to that signal type.

Check out this article for more details.

Q: How do I see the complete list of connections in a diagram?

A: You can access the Connections Summary report for the complete list of connections in a diagram. This report lists every connection along with its source and destination devices, I/Os, locations, and associated wires.

Check out this article for more details.

Q: Can I generate wire labels for the wires used in the connections?

A: No, the Wire Label report to generate wire labels will be made available in future releases.

Q: Can I see a Schematic view of a connection diagram?

A: No, we will make the Schematic view available in future releases.

Q: Where are all my connection diagrams saved?

A: All connection diagrams created in a quote are stored under the Overview tab and the Drawings tab. Under the Drawings tab, click "Connection View."

Q: Can I download the connection diagrams?

A: Yes, you can download them in PNG or PDF format.
