Once you have a connection with an ID assigned to it, you can specify the I/Os, the connection type, and associate the required wire for the connection.

To specify the details, click the connection line on the connection diagram. This will open the Connection ID panel.

I/O

Click "Select I/O" under the source device to open the I/O panel.

If you added the I/Os for the device in the catalog, you will see them in the I/O panel.

If the device has no I/Os, or if you want to add more, click the "+" icon at the bottom of the I/O panel to add I/Os.

You can also import the I/Os of the device from a CSV file by clicking the "Import" icon at the bottom of the I/O panel.

For more details about how to add I/Os manually or via a CSV file, check out this article.

To edit, delete, or clone an existing I/O, click the relevant icon to the right of the I/O.

Once you have added all the I/Os for the device, click the "Catalog" icon to synchronize the I/Os with the device's I/O list in the catalog. This way, the I/Os will be available automatically in future quotes.

To view the device's back panel, click the "Device" icon to the right of the device. This will open a modal displaying the device's back panel. You can upload an image if one is not available in the catalog.

To connect the I/Os of the devices:

1/ Click "Select I/O" below the first device.

2/ In the I/O panel, all the I/Os of the device will be listed under the Unconnected tab.

3/ Select the relevant I/O.

The I/O will now be listed under the Connected tab and below the device.

4/ Click the "Match I/O" icon next to the I/O, and the Cloud will automatically select the I/O of the second device. You can even manually select the I/O of the second device by clicking "Select I/O" below it.

Here, we connected an A/V receiver to a projector.

If you need to connect more than one I/O between devices, follow steps 1 to 5 to connect them.

You can search for a specific I/O and also use the "Signals" and "Direction" filter to narrow down the list of I/Os.

Connection type

All connections will show a default of "CONN-TYPE" next to the connection ID. You can click this and change it to a different connection type.

Wire

If the devices need to be connected via a wire provided by the manufacturer, you don't need to associate a wire.

If you want to associate a wire:

1/ Click "Associate wire," and this will open a modal listing the wires and cables that are already in the quote.

If the wire is not listed, you can use the Search box to search for a wire product from the catalog or D-Tools Library.

2/ Select the product and click "Done."

You can see the direction of the connection to the left of the wire in the connection ID panel, based on the signal directions of the I/Os.

To remove the wire, click the "X" icon for the wire.

Connection notes

Here, you can add connection notes for the technicians installing the devices.
