The conventional way to start quoting is by first adding products from the D-Tools Library to your catalog or exporting them via a CSV to the catalog. However, if you have a unique set of products that are not available in the D-Tools Library, you can create them one by one in the catalog or even from within the quote.
This article explains how to add a product and a labor type from within the quote.
Product
To add a product within the quote:
1/ Go to "Details > List" in the Quote Details view.
2/ Click "New item" above the Item Search bar. This will open a modal to create an item.
3/ Select "Product" and click "Next."
4/ Enter the brand and model and select a category. If you don't find a suitable category, select "Unassigned." You can decide on the category later.
5/ In the Pricing section, enter the unit cost and unit price, and the margin and markup will be calculated accordingly.
6/ Enter the MSRP if needed.
7/ Leave other fields as-is and click "Create." This will add the new product to the quote and the catalog under "Catalog > My Products."
Labor
On Cloud, labor is defined by a 'labor type." A labor type is a name for the type of labor performed and the cost and price of the labor. For example, a labor type "Programming" at a cost of $40 per hour, and a price of $65 charged to the customer.
To add a labor type within the quote:
/ Go to "Details > List" in the Quote Details view.
2/ Click "New item" above the Item Search bar.
3/ Select "Labor" and click "Next."
4/ Enter a name and description for the labor type.
5/ In the Pricing section, enter the hourly cost and hourly price, and the margin and markup will be calculated accordingly.
6/ Leave other fields as-is and click "Create." This will add the new labor type to the quote and the catalog under "Settings > Catalog > Labor Types."
