If an inventory-tracked item reserved for a project is not yet staged for installation, you can unreserve it from the project and reserve it for another project.
If you only unreserve an inventory-tracked item from a project, the Allocated quantity will decrement, and the Available quantity will increase.
If you unreserve an inventory-tracked item from a project and reserve the same quantity for another project, the Allocated quantity and the Available quantity will not change.
The capabilities for reserving items for projects differ between Advanced Inventory and Basic Inventory.
Basic Inventory
You can unreserve inventory-tracked items in two ways:
#1 Within the project
Here, you can unreserve multiple inventory-tracked items from a project at once.
1/ Go to the Project details view.
2/ Click the 3-dot menu next to the project number at the top left corner and click “Project inventory items.”
This will open a modal with all inventory-tracked items in the project.
3/ Click the 3-dot menu of an inventory-tracked item and click “Unreserve.”
4/ Specify the quantity you want to unreserve and click “Unreserve.”
#2 From the item’s side panel
You can view an inventory-tracked item and unreserve it for multiple projects simultaneously.
1/ Go to the “Inventory.”
2/ Click the inventory-tracked item you want to unreserve.
This will open its side panel.
3/ Hover over the “Allocated” tile, and you will see the “Unreserve for projects” button.
4/ Click the button. This will open a modal listing all projects for which this item is reserved.
5/ Specify the quantity of the item you want to unreserve in the row of the project.
6/ Click “Unreserve.”
Advanced Inventory
With Advanced Inventory, you can unreserve the specific items you have reserved for the project.
1/ Go to the Project details view.
2/ Go to "Details > Item Status" in the details view, in the Ordering or Scheduling view.
3/ Select the inventory-tracked item you want to unreserve and click "Order" or "Schedule" in the top-right corner, and click "Manage inventory assets."
4/ Go to a location if you want to unreserve the item from a location.
5/ Set "Show Reserved Only" to Yes to see the specific assets that are reserved.
6/ Deselect the checkboxes to the left of the assets you want to unreserve.
7/ Click "Reserve selected."
This will reserve only the selected assets. If all assets are deselected, all assets are unreserved from the project's location.
8/ Do this for all assets you want to unreserve.
