Once you have met some project commitments, you can create an invoice and request payment from the customer.
To make invoicing flexible, Cloud provides two methods of invoicing:
Milestone-Based: Create payment milestones and send invoices for each milestone. Cloud includes a built-in checker to ensure the entire project amount is distributed across the milestones.
Itemized: Create itemized invoices by adding specific products, labor, and adjustments to each invoice. Items added to an invoice are not available for selection in subsequent invoices to ensure that you don't invoice for an item twice.
You can use both Milestone-Based and Itemized invoicing for a project, but you may need to pay close attention to what you include in the invoices.
D-Tools recommends using one single method (either Milestone or Itemized) of invoicing for a project.
This article explains how to create an itemized invoice for a project.
If you want to create a milestone-based invoice, check out this article.
Create an itemized invoice
To create an itemized invoice:
1/ Go to the "Payments" tab in the Project Details view.
2/ Click "New invoice" in the top-right above the Invoices table, then click "Itemized invoice."
Cloud displays the Create itemized invoice modal.
View project items
The modal includes the following options to view items.
4 tabs at the top, each showing specific items you can add to the invoice: All items, Equipment (products), Labor, and Adjustments
A Search box to search for specific items
An option to group the items by Location or Phase
A set of filters to filter the items by: Location, Phase, Install status, and View items (all, remaining for invoicing, selected for invoicing)
Select project items
You can see the items in a table in the modal. Use the following options to select items in the table for invoicing.
Arrows to the left of the locations or phases (based on the grouping you selected) to expand or collapse them
Check boxes to the left of the items and packages to select them for invoicing
Text box in the "Invoice Quantity" column to specify the quantity to add to the invoice
In the expanded view, you can see the associated labor and accessories for items, and the items, labor, and accessories for packages
An "Expand all" and "Collapse all" option in the top-right of the table to expand or collapse all items in the table
The following screenshot shows how only one Luma camera is selected for the invoice.
The following screenshot shows how items under packages are listed and how the tabs at the top display the total number of items selected for the invoice.
Adjustments
After selecting the products and labor for the invoice, go to the Adjustments tab.
If you applied a "Fixed price" adjustment, select it and add it to the invoice.
If you applied a "Percentage" adjustment, Cloud auto-calculates the adjustment amount based on the products and labor selected for the invoice.
The following screenshot shows the option to select a fixed adjustment and the Cloud-calculated amount for a percentage adjustment.
Invoice summary
After you add items and adjustments, you can see the invoice summary at the bottom of the modal.
The "This invoice" column in the table also shows the invoice amount added for each location.
The following screenshot shows the invoice summary and the invoice amounts for locations.
3/ Use the Item-View options and Item-Selection options described above to add items to the invoice.
4/ Add fixed adjustments to the invoice if needed, as described here.
5/ Click "Create invoice."
You can see the invoice in the Invoices table on the Payments page.
Subsequent itemized invoices
When you create subsequent itemized invoices for a project, the items that you added in previous invoices are not available for selection. The items also indicate the invoice number in which you added them.
Share invoice
You can share an itemized invoice with the customer using the same options you use to share a milestone-based invoice: download as PDF, present the invoice, share via email, share a unique invoice URL per recipient via email.

Resend invoice
If the customer has not viewed the invoice on or after the due date, you can resend the invoice.
